Regulations for the Management and Authorized Use of Multimedia Resources

1. Purpose
These regulations are established to govern the management and authorized use of multimedia resources on the NMMBA Multimedia Platform (https://media.nmmba.gov.tw/ShuntPage.aspx).
2. Scope
The multimedia resources under management include audiovisual materials produced under NMMBA’s commission, materials captured by NMMBA personnel, those obtained via specific agreements, and any content created using NMMBA resources.
3. Categories of Multimedia Materials
(1) Digital Photographs: Still images including digitized positives, negatives, prints, and digital photo files.
(2) Digital Illustrations: Manually or digitally created graphics, such as scientific illustrations or colored ecological diagrams.
(3) Digital Audiovisual Materials: Video files capturing motion images and sound.
4. Principles of Authorization
Requests for the use of multimedia resources may be approved if they positively contribute to the museum’s image, support nature conservation efforts, and promote environmental education.
5. Free Authorization Conditions
The following users may be granted free authorization:
(1) Government agencies, schools, and non-profit organizations for non-commercial use.
(2) Internal use for official NMMBA events, exhibitions, lesson plans, publications, websites, lectures, or promotional materials.
(3) Media outlets producing non-commercial reports about NMMBA or environmental conservation.
(4) Other cases approved through special project authorization.
6. Fee-Based Authorization Conditions
For cases not qualifying under Article 5, the following fees apply:
(1) Digital Photographs and Illustrations (per item per use)
• Resolution ≤ 4288×2848 pixels: NT$800
• Resolution > 4288×2848 pixels: NT$1,000
• Biological illustration: NT$1,200 (B/W), NT$1,600 (Color)
• Ecological illustration: NT$2,400
(2) Digital Audiovisual Materials
Charged per 30 seconds of video. Segments under 10 seconds are not counted. Segments under 30 seconds are rounded up. NT$900 per 30 seconds.
7. Authorization Procedures
(1) Application
• Organizations must submit a formal request specifying the material name, ID number, purpose, and quantity.
• Individuals or fee-based users may apply via email and will be asked to sign a copyright authorization agreement.
(2) Review
NMMBA will evaluate each request and determine whether to authorize use.
(3) Payment
For fee-based authorizations, applicants must complete payment in full. Payment should be transferred to:

(4) Usage
Authorized users must use the materials strictly within the licensed scope. Misuse or overuse may result in liability. All digital files must be deleted after use. Attribution must be provided as:

(5) Copyright
NMMBA retains full property rights over all provided materials. Users must also respect moral rights. Unless otherwise provided by copyright law, authorized users may not resell, lend, reproduce, distribute, or transmit the materials to third parties in any form. Any violation of these regulations or relevant copyright laws may lead to termination of authorization and legal action.
8. Enforcement
These regulations are implemented upon approval by the Director of NMMBA and shall be revised through the same process if necessary.
